When replacing or installing a new flat mop head, correctly inserting the clip into the slot on the mop handle is a basic skill. First, ensure you have a new flat mop head and the necessary tools. The clip size of the new mop head should match the slot on the mop handle; if it doesn't, slight adjustments may be needed.
Lay the mop head flat on a work surface and observe the sides of the clip. You will find two small holes; these are for positioning during installation. Next, align the mop handle with these holes and gently tap the top of the mop handle with a small hammer or rubber mallet until the clip is fully inserted into the slot.
If the clip is difficult to insert, consider using a small amount of lubricant or silicone to assist sliding, but be careful not to use too much to prevent malfunctions later. Once the clip is fully inserted, rotate the mop head to ensure it is securely installed. Finally, gently pull the mop head by hand to confirm it is not loose or has fallen off.
